I'd like to introduce myself

Writer: Stoney VanceStoney Vance

Hi, I'm Beka, your future Family Nurse Practitioner to Pinedale. We are in the beginning stages of setting up our Integrative Direct Primary Care practice here in Pinedale, called Vertical Health. Vertical Health will start by serving western Wyoming. If you are tired of having to travel to Jackson or Rock Springs because of the inability to get clear, reliable, connected care for your health here in our Vertical Town, I share in your frustrations. Rural Health is a hot topic in America due to lack of resources outside urban areas. Often, health care is a concession we who live here seem to just take. We understand that the compromise to have access to amenities such as drive thru's, franchises, varieties, and, dare I say, stop lights are something we do with out.

But here in Wyoming, healthcare is treated like a luxury. It is NOT. I'm very thankful for the Critical Access Hospital currently being built here in our town. That is not to say I'm comfortable with the methods or administration of those resources over the past 10 or more years. I have a large amount of experience in rural areas and have come to the understanding that all rural geographical areas outside of a 50-60 mile radius from a major trauma facility need a trauma center which can stabilize and transport patients to larger, more equipped system, where higher levels of care can be administered. This is a systematic approach that I am supportive of. Does that mean it needs to be extravagant at the expense of functional? I think you hear the answer in the question there.

You will find I am not extravagant in my approach to medicine. I have no interest in prolonging your healthcare experience beyond what the evidence determines in order to supplement another department's failed attempts to balance its ledgers. I genuinely desire Vertical Health to usher your well being from the cradle to the grave with a long wonderful space in between. I want that process to exceed expectations on longevity as well as vitality. Having experience in both models of healthcare, I have determined Direct Primary Care is the solution.

As Vertical Health is being established over the course of the next year, I encourage you to reach out with questions, comments, criticisms, and intrigue as to what I will be providing to this area. I can promise you, we will not have to hold town hall meetings or classes for you to understand your health care or the cost of it. If you can tell me you understand your private insurance provider's, Medicare's, or Medicaid's policies, fees, and operational procedures to successfully claim remittances, then you are leaps and bounds more informed than your average billing department in any service in America. Did you know there is absolutely NO REASON your healthcare needs to be that complex. Yet, that is what insurance is counting on. If you can understand it, then it's not complex enough. Complexity turns you off to control and on to acceptance. Forgive my candidness, but that is foolish! I'm insistent that if you don't understand it and can't explain it back to another person who knows nothing more about it, then it's too complex. Vertical Health's system is not complex, not hard to obtain, and not hard to exit from if you chose to.

I will be expanding this blog to answer questions and bring awareness to various things our community needs. I'm chomping at the bit to get into the exam room with you and begin the beautiful provider-patient relationship over the long haul. But to do anything well, it's worth the time it takes to do it right. We will be starting a "Pre-enrollment" campaign to begin the process of establishing patient care. We do not believe responsible health care can maintain a large number of patient-to-provider ratio. So, we do expect our membership to reach it's maximum within a short period of time. Should this happen, it is our intention to responsibly grow. But as the Bible says, "Do not despise small beginnings." We do not. As the value of the process takes shape, we fully intend to add more providers who are equally yoked to our Vision, Mission, and Values.

I'll have more to come as we grow together.

Feel free to reach out to me at myverticalhealth@gmail.com. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have, and with your blessing, answer those questions in future blogs or podcasts.
